In November, EY published a news release about how data security, data ownership and the use of cloud technology are stirring uncertainty among global CFOs.
Understanding how to ensure that data remains secure is an ongoing challenge for those in the corporate reporting environment. With increasing globalisation, and the use of cloud technology, the lines around data ownership can become blurred, and as such, where the responsibility for data security and protection lies. And in addition to this is the challenge with globalisation to ensure that data is compliant with local laws.
In the news release, Peter Wollmert, EY Global and EMEIA FAA Leaders says:
"...CFOs need to ensure that they have clear governance processes in place for how they look after financial information and ensure that data is both compliant with relevant local laws and is secure – which can be a huge challenge in large and complex organisation."
Data security and ownership is clearly an issue that CFOs need to respond to, to ensure that reporting remains effective.
